Administrator for Compensation Function at the Education Administration

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

The Education Administration in Stockholm is Sweden's largest municipal administration, with 16,000 employees.

We are now looking for an administrator for the compensation function at the central administration with the municipality's mission, focusing on the people of Stockholm.

The Compensation and School Duty Unit is one of four units in the Department of Economy and Governance and primarily handles issues related to the administration's mission as a municipality. The unit currently consists of just over 30 employees and is led by a unit manager and a group manager.

We are looking for someone who is...

  • Collaborative and communicative – you build good relationships, create engagement in collaboration with others, and convey understanding in dialogue with various stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented – you have the ability to identify connections and see the big picture, as well as plan and execute your tasks efficiently.
  • Driven and proactive – you take responsibility, work both independently and in teams, and contribute to forward development.

We offer

With us, you will have the opportunity to work closely with operations in a compensation function characterized by great commitment, lack of prestige, and high competence. We offer a work environment where your skills are valued and where you can influence – both in daily work and in long-term development.

The Education Administration offers wellness grants and flexible working hours. The City of Stockholm provides discounts at its own facilities and has agreements with several gyms that offer favorable discounts on memberships and annual passes.

Your role

As a compensation administrator at the City of Stockholm's Education Administration, you play an important role in ensuring that the city's responsibilities as a municipality are managed correctly and transparently. In this role, you will calculate compensations and grants to other school authorities. You will review and verify documentation, ensure that calculations comply with applicable regulations, and compile correct and legally secure payment documentation.

The work involves recurring monthly processes with fixed deadlines, where you delve into regulations, review reports, and perform analyses used for decision-making and follow-up. This is a job for you who appreciates order and clarity, is meticulous, and can create clarity in issues related to both finance and law.

You will be part of our expert team in compensation management and work closely with colleagues, the group manager, and other functions within the unit and administration.

Your skills and experience

Requirements:

  • Higher education in economics or equivalent.
  • At least 5–7 years of documented experience in economics and qualified compensation and grant management within public or state operations, preferably within municipal central administration or at a higher level.
  • Experience working with extensive data sets and meeting deadlines with high precision.
  • Financial awareness and numerical analytical ability.
  • Documented experience in developing and implementing processes and routines.

Meritorious:

  • Good understanding of the public sector, legal issues, and administrative authority.
  • Knowledge of the Education Act.
  • Experience with compensation systems in the education sector.
  • Experience in case management.

To succeed in the role, we see that you express yourself well in Swedish both verbally and in writing, have the ability to quickly understand various administrative work processes and IT systems, work in a structured and solution-focused manner, and find it easy to handle complex issues. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other

We see diversity as enriching and welcome all applicants regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ethnic background, religion, disability, and age.

The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's skills and thus counteracting discrimination.
